Stocking Shelves with New Moms Donation at Midwest PETS 2025

Midwest PETS and the American Academy of Pediatrics Partner to Support New Moms in Chicago

[Itasca, IL] – [March 2, 2025] – Rotary leaders from six districts, in partnership with employees of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), successfully conducted a donation drive during the 2025 Midwest Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (Midwest PETS). The initiative benefited New Moms, a Chicago-based nonprofit that empowers young mothers and their children by providing critical resources and support.

Over the course of the event, Rotary members attending the event donated hundreds of essential items, including children’s toys, books, body care products, and furniture for families in need. In addition, the initiative raised almost $1,000 to further support New Moms’ mission.

“This incredible collaboration demonstrates the heart of Rotary—service above self,” said Mary Van Hout, Midwest PETS Chair. “Through this effort, we were able to provide meaningful support to young families in need, ensuring they have the essentials to build a brighter future.” The donation drive is a great example of how Rotary connects passionate people and caring organizations to create lasting change in human lives here in the Midwest and all over the globe.

New Moms provides housing, job training, and family support services to young mothers, helping them create strong foundations for themselves and their children. The generous contributions from Midwest PETS attendees and AAP employees will go directly to supporting these vital programs.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by the Rotary community and AAP employees,” said Jane Rasweiler, Event & Volunteer Coordinator of New Moms. “These donations will make a tangible difference in the lives of the families we serve.”
